Marcia Hovland is a renowned Metro-Detroit based artist, specializing in handmade ceramic tiles and jewelry.

She has been a self-employed artist since 1984, an amazing testament to the fact that Art is alive and well. Marcia received her degree in Fine Arts/Painting at the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit, and has studied extensively at the world-famous Pewabic Pottery in Detroit (founded in 1903 as a ceramic arts studio, and now remains as a non-profit ceramic design studio, education center and National Historic Landmark).

Marcia has exhibited her work all over the United States, has won multiple awards for her pieces, has been profiled in numerous magazine articles and editorials, and has been published in several books.

Marcia currently owns and operates a successful gallery shop in Royal Oak, Michigan. This shop is an inviting art boutique, but at the same time a working studio. Marcia sculpts, fires, and paints in her studio space within the store, and is constantly adding to her prolific ceramic art collection.Marcia's signature artistic style is creating a fairytale in each and every individual piece, with recurring themes of animals, fairies, insects, outdoors scenes, and simply detailed faces on animals, plants, and people alike. Marcia's whimsical fairytales are a wonderful escape into an imaginary and tranquil world.
